Suddenly everyone appears to be an Employer Brand “expert”. Along with Social Recruiting and Mobile Recruiting, it seems to be the new shiny toy, the buzz term to be sprinkled liberally across every blog or other marketing mouthpiece.
But it’s a concept that’s been around for more than 20 years, with the term being coined (and methodology created) back in the early 90′s by a wonderful Brit and an ex-boss of mine – Simon Barrow. Simon was and still is a Serious Marketeer: cutting his teeth as a Madison Man with Colgate Palmolive in the 60′s, before running one of the UK’s top creative agencies, Ayer Barker. He introduced the principles of Consumer Brand to its poorer cousin in Recruitment – and we all owe him a huge debt of thanks.
